THE FEAST OF GOD!
As we begin to worship, mature and learn of the Lord, we must seek the inner most thoughts of God. In growing in His
knowledge, we will see things that may seem so insignificant to us, however, they are powerful and awesome in the
Lord's sight. Of certain things that may seem insignificant are the feast days that the Lord Himself established in the
"Old Testament." The Lord of Host instituted seven feast that were to be observed by Israel throughout all their
generations. These feast were listed in the scriptures to show God's redemptive plan for all of mankind. Each feast had
a special significance that pointed to directly to the Jewish Messiah, Yeshua (Jesus). These feast are Passover,
Unleavened Bread, First Fruits, Feast of Weeks, Trumpets, the Day of Atonement and Tabernacle. When we look at the
feast from the prophetic stand point, we realize that Jesus fulfilled the first four feast on the exact day that they
occurred in the scriptures. Now there are three feast days that are yet to be fulfilled. If we are not were we need to be
in Jesus, it would mean damnation because we have not kept the feast of the Lord throughout our generations.
THE PASSOVER!
The Feast of Passover was originally mentioned and celebrated in the book of Exodus and later mentioned in the books
of Leviticus and Numbers. This feast was to be conducted on the fourteenth day of the first month (note: the first
month is called Abib but was later called Nisan after the Jews returned from captivity in Babylon. This month
corresponds with Gregorian calendar months of March or April) according to God's calender. The Lord gave specific
instructions for its observance when He stated, "Speak unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of
this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: and
if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the
number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without
blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: And ye shall keep it up until
the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the
evening." (Exodus 12:3-6) When the Lord gave the children of Israel this feast, He had something greater than what
could be seen at that time. Here is wisdom, things that occurred in the "Old Testament" were foreshadows of things to
come in the "New Testament." In the "New Testament," the Lord Jesus Christ is that lamb that was ordained by God
to be the true sacrificial lamb. This was in God's plan before the world was created. The apostle John wrote of John the
Baptist when he said, "the next day John seeth Jesus coming to him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh
away the sin of the world." (John 1:29) The lambs that were slain in the "Old Testament" was temporary because their
blood had to be continually shed. However, Jesus the Christ fulfilled the passover by dying for the sins of the world,
thus ending the need to sacrifice animals. Jesus was without sin, perfect and fit for the slaughter in the eyes of the
Father. Jesus became the Passover Lamb;not merely covering sin but removing it. It must be noted that
Easter was not
and is not a holy day given by God.
Easter is a pagan day that was added into "Christendom" by the Catholic church.
Even in the mist of the devil trying to mock God, there is always clues or visible errors. For example,
Easter in the
Greek language is the word "pascha" which is the same word for Passover. Easter, in Church tradition is suppose to be
the resurrection of Jesus from the grave but one time that it is found in the scriptures (Acts 12:4) it is listed as the
passover. What is it to be, Jesus' death or resurrection? The scriptures tell us that the passover is the death of the lamb
not its resurrection. The celebration of
Easter is not biblical at all and we must not observe this paganistic and occultic
day which does not occur on the same day each year. Passover occurs on the fourteenth of the first month while Easter
occurs on the first Sunday after the spring equinox. We must follow God rather than traditions of man which come
from the devil. Passover is biblical and Easter is satanic!
UNLEAVENED BREAD!
The Feast of Unleavened Bread was established as a time to put away leaven (yeast) from all bread that was to be eaten.
There was to be no leaven found in one's home. This feast day occurred on the fifteenth of the first month the day after
the Passover Feast and continued for seven days. The Lord told Moses, "And on the fifteenth day of the same month
[Abib] is the
feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. In the first day ye
shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein." (Leviticus 23:6-7) In translating the information
about this feast in regards to the "New Testament," the Lord Jesus fulfilled it. The leaven represents sin. For the Lord,
who is the Bread of Life knew no sin, therefore, no sin was found in Him after He was killed as the Passover Lamb.
The Lord explained that He is the Bread come to give life when He said: "and Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of
life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and that believeth on me shall never thirst...and as they were eating,
Jesus took the bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body."
(John 6:35 and Matthew 26:26) Today, we are to
observe the feast of Unleavened Bread by removing sin from our
lives (lump) and remain pure before God. Paul said, "Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump,
as ye are leavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old
leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." (1
Corinthians 5:7-8)
UNLEAVENED BREAD!
The Feast of First Fruits was celebrated when the required firstfruits from the harvest was presented unto the Lord.
Along with presenting the Lord with the firstfruits from the fields, it was necessary that an offering be made by waving
the sheaf and sacrificing an he lamb. The Lord
Jesus' fulfillment of this feast was on this wise: (a) He was the Lamb
that God chose because He was perfect, without defect, and (b) He was the first to rise from the dead never to die
again. Some may say that Jesus Christ is not the firstfruit from the grave because there were many before Him that
arose from the grave (i.e. Lazarus, raised by Jesus). It is true that many arose from the grave before Jesus, however,
they are all dead now. The Lord is the first that arose from the grave to live forevermore. The Word says of firstfruits,
"and he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he
might have the preeminence...I am he that liveth, and was dead; and behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen'; and
have the key of hell and of death." (Colossians 1:18 and Revelation 1:18) We must also note that this feast, First
Fruits is in no-way the pagan
festival of Easter which is pagan in nature and occultic in observance.
FEAST OF WEEKS!
The Feast of Weeks also known as the Harvest Feast and Pentecost (Greek word meaning fifty) was established by the
Lord to allow the people to rejoice and praise the Lord. The Feast of Weeks occurred fifty days after the Passover
which also required the people to bring an offering unto the Lord. The scriptures says, "And ye shall count unto you
from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be
complete: Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat
offering unto unto the Lord." (Leviticus 23:15-16) This feast was the culmination of the spring festivals which
signifies a new beginning. For example, when the children of Israel left Egypt, fifty days after celebrating the
Passover, the Law (torah) of God was given. Now, in the "New Testament," fifty days after celebrating the Passover
(the Lord's death), the Law (torah) of God was placed into the hearts of man. The Lord did a new thing, establishing
the Church which now includes both Jew and Gentile. The Lord Jesus fulfilled this feast by presenting and waving an
offering unto God. This offering was none other than us, human beings given to God by the Holy Ghost. The scriptures
declares that "and when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place...And they
were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance...we do
hear them speak the wonderful works of God." Acts 2:1,4 &11) With this feast being completed, the Lord will fulfill
the next four in the latter days (the times we now live in).
FEAST OF TRUMPETS!
The Feast of Trumpets is a feast that is set to occur in the seventh month of the year on the first day. According to the
Jewish calendar, this feast was observed on the month Tishri (note: which was a name given after the Jews came out of
captivity in Babylon and until then the months were given numbers). This feast was set by the Lord as a time to blow
the trumpets in jubilation and an offering made by fire was to be presented to the Lord. Today, the Jews of today
celebrate this feast as
Rosh Ha Shannah (translated from Hebrew as meaning 'head of the year') as their new year. They
blow the trumpets on this day but I do not see this day as being the new year that God established. There is no
scriptural evidence that this day is the new year because the scriptures clearly says that it is the seventh month. It far
better to obey God rather than the doctrines and traditions of man. The scriptures declare, "And the Lord spake unto
Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye
have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye
shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord." (Leviticus 23:23-25) To date, this feast has yet to be fulfilled by
the Lord Jesus. However, it will be fulfilled by the Lord returns and sends His angels to gather the good harvest of the
earth. When the Lord returns on this feast day, an offering will be made and presented to God that was tried by fire,
those that are found in the Father at the end. The scriptures declare, "And he shall send his angels with a great sound
of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."
(Matthew 24:31)
DAY OF ATONEMENT!
The Day of Atonement was established as a day of sabbath rest, to offer an offering made by fire, and a day to afflict
ones soul with fasting. Those that did not obey the Word of the Lord was cut off from among their people. The
scriptures declare, "Also, on the tenth day of the
seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy
convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord. And ye shall
do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the Lord your God.
For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people. And
whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people. Ye
shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. It shall be
unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even,
shall ye celebrate your sabbath." (Leviticus 23:27-32) In regards to the fulfillment of this feast, the Lord has not
done so yet. However, the Lord will fulfill this feast when the He returns with His saints to the earth after the time that
we call the Great Tribulation Period. At that time those that have done the will of the Lord will be accepted and the
others will be cut off. Those that did not want to submit unto the Lord will at this time now realize that they did not
walk by faith. Paul wrote, "that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in the
earth, and things under the earth; and that every knee should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the
Father." (Philippians 2:10-11) The entire world, both Jew and Gentile will now know that they have been deceived by
the deceiver in not believe that Jesus came as the Messiah.
FEAST OF TABERNACLE!
The Feast of Tabernacles is a time given by the Lord to present a sacrifice made by fire and the people were to reside
in booths for seven days. As with the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement, this feast has yet to be fulfilled by
the Lord. Moses wrote regarding this feast that it was a time to dwell in temporary dwelling places as a way for the
people to remember what the Lord did for Israel. Moses wrote in the scriptures "Speak unto the children of Israel,
saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be
the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD. On the
first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. Seven days ye shall offer an offering made
by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made
by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein. These are the feasts of the
LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt
offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day: Beside the sabbaths of the
LORD, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto the
LORD. Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a
feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath. And ye
shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and
willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days. And ye shall keep it a feast unto the
LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh
month. Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths: That your generations
may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the
LORD your God." (Leviticus 23:34-43) This feast will be fulfilled when the saints of God reign with the Lord Jesus
Christ for a thousand years here on earth. How can this be? Well, the Lord said that in His Father's house, there are
many mansions. The Lord is making mansions through the Holy Ghost; He is fashioning the whole house of Israel
(natural and spiritual Israel) to be a dwelling place. You see, God does not dwell in temples made with hands (He
dwells in us, the temple of God) and He is preparing us by the Holy Ghost to be this tabernacle (all members of His
body collectively).
